Don't miss out - when will it impact you?

  • April 2022 – All VAT-registered businesses, regardless of turnover, are required to comply with Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT. This means they must keep digital records and submit VAT returns using MTD-compatible software.

  • April 2026Sole traders and landlords with annual business or property income exceeding £50,000 must comply with MTD for Income Tax Self-Assessment (ITSA). They will need to maintain digital records and submit quarterly updates to HMRC through approved software.

  • April 2027 – The MTD for ITSA requirement will extend to sole traders and landlords earning over £30,000 annually, following the same digital record-keeping and reporting obligations.
